Cost Of A Home Inspection

The cost of living today is so far ahead of where it was twenty years ago. Gas prices were not as expensive then as they are now. My grandfather remembers a day when gas prices were around 18 cents a gallon. 18 cents! Just think of it: a world where everything was affordable and cheap. I sure do wish I could have lived in those days.

Today is a different story, however. Each item price and necessity for life rises with each passing hour. Have you ever noticed that gas prices start out at $3.50 in the morning, but turn to $3.61 by lunch? What happened in those few hours to shoot gas prices up by 11 cents a gallon? The ordinary person is never told.

Along with rising gas prices goes the cost of a home inspection. What was once a small matter has now become such a major one indeed. One difference between my grandfather’s time and mine is that insect outbreaks were not as bad in his day as in ours. My grandfather has admitted that he has never seen as many bugs and spiders as he sees in this day in time (my generation). For some reason, the insect world has progressed to the point where spiders and bugs can get through every little crack in the floor or wall and crawl right on into a house, set up shop, and have their babies turn grown before anyone notices that bugs have been there.

The cost of a home inspection is a hefty price to pay for the way humans have impacted nature. Once upon a time, bugs and insects lived in the woods. Rarely did they invade a person’s home. There was also a time, however, when humans stayed in their homes and did not invade the insect hangout. Today, humans have spent a lot of time in the forests, setting fire to and chopping down trees for paper consumption and other needs. Insects and bugs no longer have the same homes they once used to, so they have learned to compensate by attacking homes.

The cost of a home inspection differs depending on your location, region, area of the country, availability of home inspectors, licensure/certification of inspectors, and so on. Other factors that will either raise or decrease the cost of a home inspection include infestations, insect outbreaks, and weather.
